[Afternoon tea, May 2008.]
– Drinking tea-without-milk, because we are out of soy milk and all dairy products. I think I could get used to it … maybe.
– Eating the first strawberries of the season, from my first neighborhood farmers’ market visit of the season (how I’ve missed my little market!), though I went too early (!) to hear the jazz band; they are deliciously small and sweet.
– Ogling my photo in Niagara Magazine (on the very far right-hand side, with the tiny byline).
– Wishing I had gone to yoga yesterday morning (this weekend, darn it).
– Listening to the classical music station and watching the clouds get blown about by the wind, from my dining room table. I think the fog is coming in earlier than usual.
– Thinking about what to make for dinner. Black beans and rice? Red beans and rice? Roasted vegetables and quinoa? Something very simple, that’s for sure.
– Reflecting on the weekend (a lovely — and free — Norwegian music outing on Friday night, mostly of Grieg but also another composer whose name I won’t even attempt to spell; champagne and chocolate cake and sitting on blankets in the park for hours on Saturday afternoon; dinner and dancing at Fort Mason; re-meeting old neighbors and having the wee-est of after parties at our apartment until the wee-est of hours, which hasn’t happened in far too long; a Sunday of sleeping in and reading the paper).
– Looking forward to a post-work glass of wine tomorrow with a friend.
– Trying to mentally prepare to lace up my running shoes and brave the increasingly windy day in a few hours.
… perhaps Mondays aren’t always so bad after all.
[Monday strawberries, May 2008.]
I was lucky enough to visit my local farmers market this week and I don’t know why, but it gave me such joy to see all the vendors. Th hustle and bustle and the people milling around… A sight for sore, and bored eyes indeed. Biting into the fresh strawberry I bought was one of the highlights of my week!
Very nice!
I hope the run went well!
Hey girl! Sounds like a lovely day. And those strawberries look divine. The other day I was at the store and the scent of strawberries nearly assaulted me! Nice to enjoy the day watching clouds whirling about and munching on strawberries. I long for days like that….
