About me
I'm based in San
Francisco
where I mostly write about food, California and life -- but mostly food. I contribute regularly to NPR
online's Kitchen Window series, and have written for the
New York Times, Washington Post, Point Reyes Light, chow.com, and Backpacker magazine, among other publications. For two years I wrote the monthly "Common Walls" column for the San Francisco
Chronicle's Home and Garden section about the trials and tribulations of the apartment dweller.
Before moving [home] to the Bay Area I lived in Washington, DC, where I worked for the Washington bureau of Reuters -- I was a founding member of the team that produced the first incarnations of reuters.com -- wrote features for the global wire, freelanced for local publications
and hosted countless dinner parties.
I write about my culinary forays on my food blog; when I'm not in the kitchen I'm usually out for a run, exploring my native state, or have my
head in a book.
I'm currently working on my first cookbook, all about naturally flourless desserts, to be published in 2014 by Chronicle Books.
This website contains a selection of my journalism from
the last few years. Please contact me me for more
information about my work.
